Purple Broken Glass Glitter Placement

Good morning lovelies — happy Friday & Happy July! Can you believe June is already over? How crazy is that. Of course, we’re starting off July foggy & lame. So much for Summer days. So I feel like this manicure is definitely matching the vibe.

June saw a lot of things, including quite the break on my ring finger, which is why I didn’t do a lot of nail art. But I did return to an old favourite design during that growing out period, & it made me realize I (still) need to get more shattered glitters for nail art, to add to my stash.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter Top Coat
  • Base Coat: China Glaze Calcium Gel Fortifier
  • OPI In The Moon For Love
  • OPI Infrared-y to Glow
  • Small dotting tool (NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio)

This design has been a go to favourite over here for a long, long time. & I’m always happy to return to them, even if I’m not finding nail polish brands making the kind of shattered glitter toppers like they used to. I mean, I could use loose glitters, but have you met me? I’m a clumsy person, & it usually results in a mess. Haha.

What do you think about this design? Are you a fan of glitter placement designs? Which glitter shade is your favourite for a design like this? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

& happy Friday.

SWATCH SUNDAY — Essie Gel Couture Tailored By Twilight

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday. I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Sunday — the first Sunday of Summer.

Surprisingly, today’s Swatch Sunday post isn’t super Summery, but I’ve been wearing really vampy polishes lately for some reason. While usually Summer screams neon for me, but I just find myself being drawn more towards darker shades. & today’s Swatch Sunday pick is just that: dark & vampy. & I love it.

This is Essie Gel Couture Tailored By Twilight. *gifted/PR

3 coats + top coat.

The first thing about this beautiful dark plum polish is the fact it is very jelly, which is not something I usually think I want when I’m reaching for a darker shade, but it really works with this particular shade. The formula is smooth, easy to apply, but with the darker colour I feel like I needed 3 coats in order to be able to fully cover the nail, & not have any streaky spots. But it did dry down quickly, especially with the added benefit of quick dry top coat (I used Essie Gel Setter.)

The more coats you apply, the darker the shade. You can see around my cuticle line where it is a bit lighter, but again I feel like for me 3 coats was what I needed to be fully in love with these nails.

Look how beautiful that shade is. I love love love a dark purple, & this one is just gorgeous.

Essie Gel Couture Tailored by Twilight is part of the core collection, so you should be able to find it anywhere you purchase your Essie shades, ranging in price from $11.49 CAD to $16.49 CAD (when not on sale).

What do you think about Essie Gel Couture Tailored by Twilight? Do you like these darker, vampier shades — even as the days are warming up? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below, & if you would wear this shade.

Happy Sunday.

Hand Painted Lilac Nail Art 💜

Hello lovelies & happy Friday! Trying to get back into my regular posting schedule, so I’m excited to share a second nail art post this week! & I’m beyond in love with today’s nail art inspiration. When walking my kids to school, I couldn’t help but notice all the lilacs in bloom — & bam, I knew just the inspiration for my nails!

I’ve done a lot of floral on my nails over the years, but I’ve never taken such a literal flower to paint on my nails. But for something I’ve never attempted before, I’m so in love with the end result. & I totally think I managed to capture the inspiration as well.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Couture Top Coat
  • Base Coat: China Glaze Calcium Gel Fortifier
  • Essie Expressie IRL
  • Sally Hansen InstaDri Planet Purple
  • NailStuff.ca Holographic Top Coat *
  • Sally Hansen InstaDri Heather Hue
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Violet Voltage
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Lilac Insomniac
  • Essie Wind in the Willow *
  • Essie Off Tropic *
  • Nailstuff.ca Mermaid Tail 7mm liner brush
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool

*pr/gifted

Do you think I captured the Lilac vibe correctly? I literally had pictures of lilacs in front of me while I was painting (which I don’t usually do — I kind of just wing it), but I really wanted to capture what lilacs look like correctly.

I think while a little abstract, they really do look like lilacs. & I just love the purple on purple. It all comes together so beautifully. Plus the holo comes alive in this beautiful sunshine we’ve been having.

What do you think about these lilac nails? Do you love how they look as much as I do? Like I said, I don’t often have literal picture inspiration when painting floral on my nails, but I really wanted to capture these flowers accurately. & it was kind of fun — I might it more often!

Happy Friday!

SWATCH SUNDAY — China Glaze Bizarre Blurple (2014 Halloween “Wicked” Collection)

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! It’s another rainy one here — which seems to be the trend for weekends lately. But that’s okay because it’s also National Nail Polish Day & I’m super excited to show off one of — if not my absolute — favourite nail polishes of all time.

This is China Glaze Bizarre Blurple.

2 coats + top coat

How do I describe this beautiful shimmery purple? It’s literally magical. The base is a super deep dark purple, but it is packed with this shimmery blue that gives it this incredible sparkle. & the name is so much fun — Bizarre Blurple. This is one of those shades I can just wear anytime, & it makes me so happy.

According to my Internet sleuthing skills, this shade was originally released as a part of the 2014 Halloween “Wicked” collection, so it was limited edition. My bottle was scored on clearance at my local Chatters sometime there after, during the beginnings of my nail polish obsession — so the bottle is well over 10 years old. But it still applies like magic, even if I only have about a 1/3 of a bottle left.

So I cherish it & don’t waste a single drop!

But seeing as it’s National Nail Polish Day, what better occasion to show off this beauty that means so much to me. Now, if only China Glaze could bring it back for another spin — I promise I would buy at least 5 bottles as back ups!

What do you think of this Blurple beauty? What nail polish is your number one love? We all have that special polish that is our favourite, & I love knowing the stories behind other peoples so please share down in the comments below!

Pastel Floral Accent Nails 🌸🌱

Hello lovelies & happy Friday! A beautiful Friday at that. Today I’m excited — not just because the snow is almost completely melted away, but I have a beautiful floral design to share with you!

The weather may not seem to know it’s Spring outside, but my nails certainly do!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Couture Top Coat
  • Base Coat: Essie Hard to Resist Advanced
  • OPI Nature Strong Cactus What You Preach
  • OPI Nature Strong Emflowered
  • OPI Canolli On My Mind
  • OPI Sickeningly Sweet
  • OPI Check Out The Old Geysers
  • Nailstuff.ca Mermaid Tail 7mm liner brush
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool

How pretty did this Spring floral turn out? I think it turned out even better than I pictured in my head, & I just love it. I feel like anything to distract me from the lack of real Spring weather is what I need right now.

What do you think of my Spring floral? We’re close… so close to real Spring weather. But in the meantime, at least I have my nails! 🌿🌸

Happy Friday loves!
