Neon Colour Blocking (Featuring Sally Hansen Miracle Gel 90s collection)

Good morning lovelies & happy Monday! Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday — it was a very busy week last week! I decided instead of rushing to get a Swatch Sunday post done, to use my Saturday night for some fun self care & I did something I’ve been wanting to do forever: I re-dyed my hair purple! It was a bit of a lengthy process (we needed to bleach!) so I knew I couldn’t get both done. So I picked my hair.

I’m back today, though, & sharing a design using some of the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel 90s shades I received last week.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

Does the colour combination & colour blocking on this look remind anyone else of those 90s colour block bathing suits — the ones with the big zipper down the front? I definitely had one or two I wore as a kid.

I just thought this design would be so fun to wear, & the bright colours would look so good together, & I’m glad I was right! Give me all the Summer shades. I’m very much about the Summer vibes right now.

What do you think about this bright neon colour block look? Do you like these Sally Hansen Miracle Gel 90s inspired polishes. I have a bunch of free time this week so I should be able to get Swatches done of these new shades for this coming Sunday!

SWATCH SUNDAY — ORLY Desert Rose

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday. It’s a sunny Sunday here, although the snow situation is a little depressing — Spring is definitely feeling far away. So I thought I would pick something Spring-y to wear on my nails for this week.

Today’s polish is one that I picked up a little while ago now, on a whim while making a NailPolishCanada purchase. I saw the colour & thought it was so pretty, so I added to cart: ORLY Desert Rose, originally released as part of the Neon Earth Collection for Summer 2018.

2 coats + Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat

Desert Rose is a beautiful vibrant coral pink, with reddish undertones. It plays a good balance between that coral feel and the red feel, which are probably two of my favourite colours to wear. The formula was really easy to apply, & went on smoothly, with a good self level. I did apply Seche Vite over which added some extra gloss, but that was because I was planning on wearing the shade & needed it to dry quickly.

This colour is definitely the vibrancy I need for these never ending snowy days. It’s the perfect brightness, & the colour is absolutely gorgeous. I looked back on Nail Polish Canada, but the listing is no longer available sadly (I think it was on clearance when I bought it), BUT I did find it on the official ORLY website for sale, so if you’re looking at this shade, it is still available for purchase through them.

New Years Eve Golden Dotticure ✨

Hello Beauties & happy New Years Eve! I told you I would sneak in one more manicure before the year was over. Obviously, it being New Years Eve, I needed to give it my all, & decided to go with gold, silver & black for the full effect.

I also didn’t want to go too crazy because I am still exhausted from working through Christmas, & honestly by 10pm I’m just wrecked. So I decided to go with a classic dotticure… but with a NYE twist.

The polishes I used for this manicure are: 

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine 
  • Top Coat: Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
  • OPI Rolling in Cashmere
  • Essie Hors d’Oeuvres
  • Starrily Vantablack
  • Dotting tool (I always use mine from NailStuff.ca — Dotting Tool Trio)

I like how I flipped the colours I would usually do. Normally, I would go with black (or another darker colour) as my base, & use the lighter colours as my dots. But I thought I needed more gold & silver, so I decided to use it as my base instead, & use black as my accent… & I love how it turned out! Very glam, with a hint of glitter. Perfect for New Years Eve celebrations, both over the top, & simple.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who has visited this blog, liked my designs, & especially commented this last year! You make it worth it to keep posting, & make me excited to keep posting — especially as other social media changes so much! 2022 was a fantastic year for me, albeit challenging & full of change, but this blog was my happy place to come to, & I’m very excited to see what 2023 has in store!

FASHION FRIDAY — OOTD: Knits & Layers

Hello lovelies & happy Friday!

It’s been a long, long while since my last Fashion Friday post, & the weather has certainly shifted since my last OOTD post. We’ve gone from light Fall breezes to full on snowstorms, which means my fashion choices have transformed as well.

& how would I describe my fashion style for the current Autumn weather? It’s all about layers!

This look is definitely one I’ve been repeating, featuring different the different sweaters in my closet. I’m all about the layers, & keeping warm, so I’ve been piling knits on top of knits from head to toe. & for some odd reason, late Fall/Winter is the only time where I actually reach for leggings. But don’t worry—I’ve got an extra pair of tights on underneath, because I am always way too cold.

& my current favourite accessory right now, aside from these Nine West Knee High Booties I’ve own since University? The beanie! Not going to lie, Mary Kate & Ashley are once again inspiring my fashion choices with their flawless New Yorker style. But, to be honest, when aren’t they?

So what do you think about this look? I’d say oversized sweaters, leggings, & excessive layers are definitely my Fall uniform. What about you? What are your current style staples? Let me know in the comments below!

#GlamNailsChallengeOct — Haunted House

Oh my gosh, we’ve made it! Today is the last prompt of GlamNailsChallengeOct & I can’t believe that October is almost over! It’s crazy.

The last prompt for this month’s challenge is Haunted House. I wasn’t 100% sure how I wanted to approach this prompt, but I decided a darkened sky haunted house landscape was the way to go. Just the right level of spooky, plus it gave me a chance to practice my freehand skills some more.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

This look was actually so much fun to paint! I started off by sponging on my colours one on top of each other, then topped everything with top coat. Next, I freehanded my design over top, one nail at a time. I was sort of inspired by this look, originally by @lieve91, but obviously I went with a blue background instead of the orange-y shades. I also added some ghosties flying around my haunted house, just cause I thought it would cement the whole haunted idea.

I’m actually really happy with how these turned out! They’re not perfect, but I’m definitely proud of hand painting these little details. & my spooky little tree might be my favourite part!

What are you pandemic Halloween plans. Because our province is doing pretty well, cases wise, our health authority has said that as long as we remain careful & distance, we can trick or treat. So we’re going to do some kind of trick or treating with the kids, & maybe settle in after bedtime for some scary movie watching!
