January Monochrome Chevron Moons

Hello beauties & happy Tuesday. It’s a chilly, chilly here which is feeling very January. & January can be just so blah. So I thought I would make things more fun, with some monochromatic half moons with a little glittery twist.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: NailStuff Essentials Base Coat *
  • Top Coat: Nail Stuff Essentials Quick Dry Top Coat *
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Hue There? layered over CND Vinylux Dark Dahlia
  • Essie Expressie Feel The Hype*
  • Essie Play Date
  • Quo by Orly Black Striper
  • NailStuff 4mm Micro Detail Brush
    **pr/gifted

I love a good half moon look, & I think this design turned out very cool. I went into it not sure what I was doing — just knowing what colours I wanted to paint over my base — but what I created is a great look. Also, freehand painting these lines of chevrons was not as difficult as I thought it was going to be which I’m happy about.

What do you think about these monochromatic half moons, with a little glittery twist. I feel like I’m not quite ready to let go of my glitter, but I definitely am feeling drawn to darker colours right now.

What do you think of this design? Are you loving dark shades right now? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below.

Have a lovely Tuesday.

GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE DECEMBER (2024) — Christmas Plaid

Hello loves & happy Monday! It’s a sunny albeit chilly Monday here. Definitely feeling like December — although a sprinkling of snow might have been nice. But today is the next prompt for Glam Nails Challenge December, & it is Christmas plaid.

I’m not 100% sure what a Christmas plaid is, though I would assume one done in your typical Christmas colours would make sense. So that’s what I did for today’s look! & they are certainly feeling Christmas-y.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: NailStuff Essentials Base Coat *
  • Top Coat: Nail Stuff Essentials Quick Dry Top Coat *
  • Santee Magnetic Nail Polish Sandburst
  • Essie Bordeaux*
  • Essie Off Tropic *
  • NailStuff Essentials White Dove *
  • Quo by Orly Black Striper
  • Nailstuff.ca Mermaid Tail 7mm liner brush
  • Largest size from NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

*PR/gifted

Ooooh I love how these look. I tried to give this magnetic shade a velvet finish. Honestly think I might have to invest in one of those fancy U-shaped magnets in the new year if I’m going to be playing with my magnet shades more frequently.

I love the hold with the plaid pattern over top, as opposed to using the gold as an accent.

What do you think about my Christmas plaid nails? Are you a fan of this look? Let me know all your thoughts on this look, & if it feels Christmas-y to you.

GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE DECEMBER (2024) — Candy Cane

Hello lovelies & happy Wednesday.

Another late in the day post, but in my defence I went to bed with a massive headache… & woke up with a migraine. So I wasn’t keen on screens or trying to finish up this post. It’s prompt number 4 of Glam Nails Challenge & this one is Candy Cane. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t copying my candy cane nails from earlier this season, & I think this look turned out super cute!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: NailStuff Essentials Base Coat *
  • Top Coat: Nail Stuff Essentials Quick Dry Top Coat *
  • Essie Off Tropic *
  • NailStuff Essentials White Dove *
  • Nailstuff Essentials Cardinal *
  • Essie Cosmic Chrome *
  • Nailstuff.ca Mermaid Tail 7mm liner brush
  • Largest size from NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

*PR/Gifted

I knew I wanted to do a green base, & I knew I wanted to add some candy cane accents, but I thought it would be cute to add a whole candy cane on my thumbs as an accent.

Also, adding a coat of Essie Cosmic Chrome over the stripes gave it such a cool finish, it really did remind me of a real candy cane! If I’d had any on hand, I would have posed with one, but I hope the little sprinkling of snow we got yesterday is an equally seasonal backdrop.

What do you think about my candy cane nails? What is your favourite flavour of candy cane? While I do appreciate the OG peppermint, I tried the maple syrup flavour in the Brach’s Elf candy cane collection & they were so freaking good! I wish I had a way to go a whole (Costco sized) box of just maple!

Holiday Tartan 🧣🎄

Hello lovelies & happy Monday! A chill-y Monday here on the East Coast. I am so not a winter girlie, that is for sure! But, I do love Winter nail art, so I guess it’s a Catch 22.

Today’s nail art look screams holiday vibes. If there is one thing you can count on in the cooler months, it is that I will be rocking some plaid/tartan nails. & these ones are inspired by my family tartan that I grew up wearing every Christmas without fail.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: NailStuff Essentials Base Coat *
  • Top Coat: Nail Stuff Essentials Quick Dry Top Coat *
  • Essie Gel Couture Rock The Runway *
  • Essie Bourdeaux *
  • Essie Off Tropic *
  • Essie Feel The Hype *
  • Essie Blanc
  • Essie Leggy Legend
  • Quo by Orly Striper Black
  • Nailstuff.ca Mermaid Tail 11mm liner brush

I’m not going to lie, I am so freaking proud of how this plaid turned out! Sometimes when I attempt a plaid, it turns out unintentionally chaotic, but this one turned out so close to the actual tartan that I almost cried. Okay, maybe that’s a smidge dramatic — but I was very very happy! & proud.

What do you think about my holiday tartan nails? Did you grow up wearing some specific during the holidays? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below! I’d love to hear all about your Christmas fashion traditions.

Happy Monday!
