Abstract Shorties

Hello lovelies & happy first day of Summer to those in the northern hemisphere! & it actually feels very Summer like today, which is very exciting. I’m definitely here for it, & all things Summer related.

Todays look is a quick abstract design I applied over my base of OPI I Cannoli Wear OPI from my Swatch Sunday post for this week. I wanted to extend my wear another day or so, & decided an abstract look was the perfect way to do that!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Londontown KUR Nail Hardener & Base Coat
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive Fast Dry
  • OPI I Cannoli Wear OPI
  • Essie Revenge’s A Beach
  • Essie Turquoise & Caicos
  • Essie Merino Cool
  • OPI Who You Callin’ Bossy?!
  • Small dotting tool — NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool

As you can see, I’m rocking extra shorties right now thanks to a break on my ring finger at work on Saturday.

Normally I would be upset about it, but I’m kind of enjoying shorter nails right now. I find when my nails are square, I prefer a shorter length to them. Plus I love showing off that you can rock fun nail art no matter the length of your nails!

What do you think of these abstract shorties? Are you a fan of looks like these? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below, & what colour scheme you would choose.

Have a lovely Wednesday ☀️

SWATCH SUNDAY — OPI I Cannoli Wear OPI (Fall/Winter 2015 Venice collection)

Good morning loves & happy Sunday. It’s kind of a dingy gross morning here on the East Coast, but the weather later this week is supposed to be absolutely beautiful so I’m going to try to not complain!

Today I’m sharing a swatch of a shade I’ve loved for years, & recently came back into my life: OPI I Cannoli Wear OPI. This shade was originally released as part of the OPI Fall/Winter 2015 Venice collection, which was originally where I fell in love with it. I used up my bottles of it a few years ago, & didn’t realize it was readily available until I stumbled across it a few days ago at a local Winners location.

2 coats + top coat

This is a beautiful greyed white that applies easily on the nail without ending up looking like you’re wearing white-out. It’s a creamy colour that benefits from a nice coat of top coat over top for some extra shine. I ended up wearing it alone for 2 days before adding some nail art to extend my wear another couple days.

I’m not going to like — when I first saw this shade at Winners I got really excited, but Tom Sandoval had kind of ruined white nail polish for me a bit (for those who don’t know what I’m taking out, or don’t watch Vanderpump Rules, here’s a funny Glamour article). But I’ve loved white nail polish as long as I can remember, & have specifically been longing for this one, so I wasn’t going to let this shade get away!

& I’m so glad, because I love everything about it. It’s just so perfect.

For anyone who might be looking for this shade, it’s listed as available on the OPI Website, as well as Beyond Polish. I also found an Amazon.ca listing for it as well.

It is also available in Gel Colour, for those who prefer gel.

Neon Squiggles ➰

Hello lovelies & happy Friday! I know, I skipped a day of posting this week — sometimes you just need a day to take a break & relax. But I’m back today & I have a manicure I’m really obsessed with. It has all the Summer vibes that I’ve been looking for.

I really loved a sponged neon base, & I just found my make up sponges the other day, so I knew it was time for another version of one of my favourite looks! & I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Londontown KUR Nail Hardener & Base Coat
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive Fast Dry
  • Essie Blanc
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Peach Please
  • Sally Hansen MG Sugar Crush
  • Sally Hansen MG Violet Voltage
  • Sally Hansen MG Electri-Lime
  • Sally Hansen MG Fuchsia Fever
  • OPI Who You Callin’ Bossy?!
  • NailStuff.ca 4mm Micro Detail Brush

Love this vibrant base, but obviously I needed to draw some kind of pattern overtop. It’s been a while since I tried one of these swirly looks, but I think it turned out really fun. I have no set plan going into it, I just tried to create something that looked unique… & I think I was successful! My ring finger is probably my least favourite of all my nails, but over all I love love love how it looks. I’m very happy with it!

What do you think about this neon swirl look? Are you busting out the neon now that the days are getting warmer? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below, & share what your favourite neon nail polish is down in the comments below!

Floral Shorties

Hello loves & happy Wednesday!

& Happy last day of May!

I swear, you’re in the right place. I just decided to switch things up a bit. I’ve been humming & hawing on Instagram for a while about going to square nails, & I finally decided to take the plunge–just in time for a new month! I know, crazy. But it’s been about 2 years since the last time I rocked some squares, so I thought why not try them out again for a while.

They’re pretty short right now, but that’s okay. I’m excited to grow them out to a nice square shape. & in the meantime, we’ll rock some fun shortie nail art. Naturally, the first manicure I did on my new short squares is floral! I mean, were you expecting anything else.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Londontown KUR Nail Hardener & Base Coat
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive Fast Dry Top
  • Franken white shade (I mixed a few whites I own with a little black to grey it)
  • OPI Is That A Spear in Your Pocket
  • OPI Living On The Bula-vard
  • OPI Two Timing The Zones
  • OPI Do You Have This Color in Stock-holm?
  • OPI Getting Nadi on My Honeymoon
  • OPI Koala Berry
  • OPI Who You CallinBossy?
  • OPI Gelato On My Mind
  • OPI Check Out The Old Geysirs
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio
  • NailStuff.ca 4mm Micro Detail Brush

Obviously, I had to use my garden for a backdrop as it’s been thriving with these Summer-y temperatures. This floral is pretty simple — although it used a ton of different polishes — but I think it turned out beautiful & I’m really in love with the final look. I went with a white base, even though I’ve been iffy on wearing white lately thanks to the VPR drama & Scandoval, but I think this white base looks so pretty with the floral over top.

What do you think about this floral look & my return to square nails? This was the nail shape I had when I first started my blog, so I always return to it, even though I do love round nails as well. Sometimes, you just need a change, you know?

Let me know what you think & what nail art you’d like to see next! I have one manicure coming on Friday that I did earlier in the month for a nail art collab, but I’m excited to start Summer off with these new square shorties.

Happy Wednesday ♥︎

SWATCH SUNDAY — OPI Blue My Mind

Hello lovelies! I hope you’re having a wonderful start to a new week. It’s a beautiful weekend here on the East Coast, & I could get used to this. It’s starting to feel like Summer, & I love it.

Today I’m showing off a shade from the stash that I’ve never worn! (& honestly… I don’t even remember when I bought it!) This is OPI Blue My Mind.

2 coats + top coat

This shade is a beautiful vivid sapphire blue with a turquoise shimmer. According to my internet research, it was originally released as part of the 2005 Brights collection but then became part of the core collection. However, upon looking it may now be discontinued as it’s listed as out of stock on the OPI website, & No Longer Available on Nail Polish Canada. I’m sure if you really look for it, though, you could find it via smaller beauty supply websites.

The formula on this shade was smooth & easy to apply. First coat has a bit of patchiness, so a second coat was perfect for full opacity. That’s what I like in a polish. Obviously a one coat polish is always the most desirable, but it’s not always realistic, so I don’t mind having to apply two coats. I did also finish things off with a coat of top coat, to give it a little extra gloss.

How pretty is the glow on this shade? I’m super impressed with the colour, the shimmer — all of it. Not your typical “summer” colour, but I’m digging it — & I think it would be the perfect base for some aqua stamping or some chevrons.

I actually do have some nail art featuring this as a base, so stay tuned to see what I did with this colour!
