GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE DECEMBER — Christmas Cookies

Hello beauties & happy Monday! It is feeling like Spring toady, which I’m not keen on to be honest — it does not feel like Christmas at all.

But today I have another Glam Nails Challenge December design to share & the prompt is Christmas Cookies! I love making Christmas cookies– my favourite thing to do at Christmas is make Gingerbread cats–so I was excited to create a cute Christmas cookie design on my nails.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: China Glaze Calcium Gel Fortifer
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • OPI In The Moon for Love
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Oh My Coffee
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel A Moo Point
  • NailStuff.ca 4mm detail brush
  • Small dotting tool (NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio)

Doesn’t this design just make you want to eat some Christmas cookies? I’ve been so busy with work I haven’t had a ton of time to make cookies, like my granny’s shortbread cookies, but I’m definitely going to use the next couple days to do a bit of Christmas baking!

What do you think about this cute Christmas cookie design? Do you like this design? What is your favourite holiday treat to make/eat this time of year? My granny’s scotch cookies are definitely top of this list, but we also use to make something called Oh Henry Bars which are definitely a bit favourite! I made them gluten free a couple years ago, & they were incredible. I definitely need to make them again soon.

Don’t forget to check out #glamnailschallengedec for all the other beautiful designs!

Have a beautiful Monday loves! ♥︎

SWATCH SUNDAY —OPI Sleigh Parking Only (Holiday 2014)

Hello beauties & happy Sunday! I hope everyone has been enjoying the weekend so far! Mine has been busy with work — Christmas in retail, am I right? — but I did have a chance to go through my stash & find a fun throwback Christmas shade from almost 10 years ago!

This is Sleigh Parking Only from the OPI 2014 Gwen Stefani Holiday Collection.

2 coats + top coat

This shade was originally gifted to me by a coworker, as part of a set featuring two of the glitters in the collection (more on that later). The shade itself is a dark plum purple, very appropriate for this time of year. The formula was easy to apply, with just a smidge of pooling towards the cuticle — you might be able to see where I had to do some clean up around the cuticle on my pinky nail.

The colour itself is very beautiful, even though I don’t know how “Christmas-y” it is just on its own. Definitely a winter shade though, with that dark plum colour.

However, as I mentioned I received this shade in a set that also contained two of the glitter toppers from the collection: Comet in the Sky, & Snow Globetrotter. I decided to apply a coat of Comet in the Sky over Sleigh Parking Only, & oh boy do I love how it looks! Definitely gives more of that holiday vibe — as glitter usually does!

Broken Mirror Glitter Placement

Hello lovelies & happy Wednesday! It’s already midweek, isn’t that crazy? I feel like it’s going to be New Year’s Eve before we even realize.

Today’s look is a favourite of mine, that I’ve repeated a few times over the years, but never gets old to me. I love a good shattered glass glitter look, & so naturally when I painted my nails with this beautiful dark purple, I knew I wanted to add something glitter placement. I decided to grab a glitter I haven’t used in forever, & I’m glad I did because they turned out perfect!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Colour Grip Primer Base Coat
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Essie Kimono Over
  • OPI Infrared-y to Glow
  • Medium sized dotting tool (NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio)

I tried to capture the little holo glitters that accompany Infared-y To Party, but for whatever reason my phone & my nails were not cooperating to really show it off. I thought this glitter was a nice alternative to the usual gold glitters I create this look with, & gives off more of a shattered mirror design because the glitters are silver.

I definitely do miss my bottle of Color Club Diamond Drops as it was perfect for this kind of design thanks to the holographic shards of glitter. I anyone knows a similar glitter topper, let me know, because I really need to expand my glitter collection for these kinds of looks!

What do you think of this broken glass/mirror design? Have you ever tried one of these designs before? If not, I definitely recommend giving it a try! It’s a bit time consuming, obviously, but other than that it’s super easy to do & is such a fun effect! I guarantee you’ll get lots of comments & compliments on your nails too!

Happy Wednesday ♥︎

Chic Red & Gold Plaid

Hello lovelies & happy Wednesday! It is a very, very chilly Wednesday at that. It is officially creeping into Winter, & not at all slowly. Guess I’ll need to do some snowflake nails soon!

Today though, I’m sharing a design I did last month, & it’s the last big of nail art I have featuring my longish nails. Time to jump into short nail nail art again! Today’s look, though, is perfect for these in between holidays days.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Colour Grip Primer Base Coat
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat
  • OPI Just Be-Claus
  • OPI Rolling in Cashmere
  • Essie Lady Like
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod
  • Sally Hansen InstaDri Ghouls Night Out
  • NailStuff.ca 16mm striper brush

I absolutely adorable all things plaid — in fact I’m wearing my favourite plaid leggings to work today. Plaid nails are no exception. I’m not sure if it’s because they’re so easy, or if it’s because there is endless colour combinations, but they really are one of my favourites, especially this time of year.

& I’m sure this won’t be the last plaid nail art design I share this season. In fact, I can pretty much bet on it.

What do you think about this chic plaid design? Would you wear this on your nails? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below, & let me know what short nail designs you’d like me to create & share!

Enjoy your Wednesday! 🖤

SWATCH SUNDAY — OPI Green On the Runway

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday. & happy Halloweekend! Did anyone dress up & go to any fun Halloween parties?

Today I’m sharing my last kind of Halloween-y shade of the season. To be fair, I don’t own a lot of actual Halloween shades (that I haven’t shared on here already) but I saw this OPI mini bottle in my stash & thought it was a great spooky colour. & if it looks familiar, that’s because I also used it for the base of my last manicure.

This is OPI Green on the Runway from the 2014 OPI Coca-Cola collection.

3 thin coats + top coat

This beautiful duochrome shade has a thin formula that requires multiple thin coats, but it’s worth it. The dark green base flashes like a bronze-y brown depending on the light. There is almost a metallic quality to the green base as well, which I like a lot.

I believe the 2014 Coca-Cola collection was released as a Summer collection, but this shade just feels straight up Autumn to me. I didn’t really jump on them when they were first released, but when I was perusing through my local Chatters last Christmas, I saw this little mini bottle for .99 cents & had to pick it up.

& I’m so glad I did! It’s such a beautiful shade that works both for spooky season, & a great transitional shade into the impending holiday season.

What do you think of OPI Green on the Runway? Did you pick up this shade when it was originally released? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below!
