Glitter Gradient Nails (With Revlon Nail Art Expressionist Duo)

Good Morning & happy Wednesday! It’s a snowy, messy, gross Wednesday here with a little bit of everything a winter storm can offer. But I’m excited because I have a fun (& easy) nail art look to share with you today using an old school polish that I found at my local Dollarama! Every so often, older polish collections & nail art items pop up in the beauty aisle. So I was pumped when I saw a few of these Revlon Nail Art Duos from 2015 show up at my local Dollarama.

My local Dollarama had two different styles in stock — one neon one, & the one Santa slipped into my stocking called 350 Ulterior Motif. It has a dark metallic gunmetal base shade, with a rose gold glitter for accenting.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: China Glaze Calcium Gel Fortifer
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Revlon Nail Art Duo 350 Ulterior Motif

Don’t mind the tip wear — I stupidly photographed these after wearing them for a full work shift. But I love how easy this duo made it to create a funky nail art look, with no tools needed. I definitely didn’t take advantage of these sets when they were originally released — which is a shame, because they make nail art super easy!

Do you remember the Revlon Nail Art Duos from the mid-2010s? Did you have/do you have any in your nail polish stash? After using this one, I kind of want to go back & get the neon style because it will be fun to use in the Summer!

Have a lovely day ♥︎

SWATCH SUNDAY — Quo Beauty Show Stopper

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday — the first Sunday of 2024.

Today’s Swatch Sunday pick is actually a reader request! I had someone on my Facebook message to ask if I had any pictures of Quo Beauty Show Stopper, & it made me realize I had this shade in my stash — but hadn’t actually swatched it. So immediately I had to pull it out so I could feature it for this week’s Swatch Sunday post!

2 coats + Top Coat

Quo Beauty Show Stopper is a beautiful shimmery fuchsia, with a flash of hot pink depending on how you move your hand. It’s from the Breathable line, so it’s designed to be “healthier” on the nail — allowing your nails to “breathe”.

The formula on this one was easy to apply, giving me full coverage in 2 coats. On its own, it dries down to a nice shiny finish, but I did apply top coat as I was planning on wearing it for a few days. The shimmer is absolutely beautiful, & give me early Valentine’s Day vibes.

Quo Beauty nail polishes are a Shoppers Drug Mart exclusive brand, which means it’s sold exclusively in Canada. The Breathable line retails for $13.49 CAD, although you can on occasion tucked into to clearance bin–which is, I’m pretty sure, where I picked up my bottle.

This shade can also be purchased from the Shoppers Drug Mart website if you cannot find it in store.

What do you think about Quo Beauty Show Stopper? Are you a fan of shimmery pink polishes like this? Have you already started feeling those Valentine’s Day vibes? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

& if you ever have a nail polish you’d love to see me feature on here, reach out! I’m always down to share the nail polish love.

Purple on Purple Chevron Moons

Hello lovelies & happy Wednesday! To be honest, I’m still in that post-holiday haze & still not quite sure what day it is. But, the calendar says it’s Wednesday, so we’ll go with that.

Today I’m sharing my first real manicure of the new year. January is such a blah time, I find, so I’m never quite sure what to do on my nails before Valentine’s Day. However, you can never go wrong with some chevron moons, so that’s what I decided on.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: China Glaze Calcium Gel Fortifer
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Essie Expressie IRL
  • Essie No Ex-pectations
  • Essie Frock n Roll
  • Chevron vinyls (these ones are from Beyond the Nail)
  • Mermaid Tail 7mm liner brush

It’s been a while since I wore a chevron moon look, & I particularly like this one because of the layers of different purples. I used nail vinyls for my initial chevrons, then went it with my mermaid tail brush, & added some of Frock N Roll for a little contrast.

My only regret is I feel like I should have topped the design with matte top coat, but ran out of time. Matte top coat just makes everything better.

What do you think about this chevron moon nail art look? What nail art looks are you obsessed with right now? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

SWATCH SUNDAY — OPI Infinite Shine Shaking My Sugarplums (2023 Terribly Nice Holiday Collection)

Good morning lovelies & Happy New Years Eve! Can you believe today is the last day of 2023?! This year has been a whirlwind for sure. So much has happened, but I’m excited for what 2024 will bring!

Today I’m excited to share a brand new polish which I received as part of my Christmas gift from my kids. All I asked for this beautiful OPI share, & I was excited to receive it — along with 3 other gorgeous shades I’ll be sharing soon!

This is OPI Shaking My Sugarplums from the 2023 Terribly Nice Holiday Collection.

3 coats + top coat

This beautiful metallic periwinkle shimmer has a beautiful flash of pinky purple. The second I saw swatches of this shade, I knew I needed to have it. & of course, the hilarious name really sold it!

The formula was a bit thin on this one — I could have gotten away with 2 coats, but opted for a 3 for really solid coverage. It dries quickly, so the extra coat wasn’t an inconvenience at all but really helped with that flash of shimmer.

Macro shot to show of the depth of this beautiful shade. I can’t get over how beautiful it is! I am so happy to be able to add this shade to my collection (as well as the 3 other shades I was gifted)

The OPI 2023 Terribly Nice Holiday Collection can be found anywhere OPI polishes are sold. For fellow Canadians, I know they are currently on sale at Chatters & Chatters.ca for 50% off!

What do you think of this beautiful OPI Holiday shade? Did you pick up any of the beautiful shades from this collection? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below, & I hope you have the most wonderful New Years Eve!

See you next year!

Delicate New Years Eve Dotticure

Hello lovelies & happy Friday. The last Friday of 2023. I cannot believe that this year will be over in just a few days.

Now that Christmas is over, my mind has been on New Year’s Eve. Over Christmas, a customer came into work with the cutest gel manicure featuring a neutral base with a dotticure using rhinestones. I was obsessed, & knew I needed to create it in my own way.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: China Glaze Calcium Gel Fortifer
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Central Pink
  • OPI Put Something On Ice
  • Small dotting tool (NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio)

Check out that sparkle!

Since I knew I wouldn’t be wearing this manicure more than a day or two, I didn’t want to commit to using all rhinestones, but I knew that OPI Put Something On Ice would add the perfect amount of sparkle. I loved the soft & delicate effect of use a dot of sparkle. It’s dainty, but effective.

What do you think about this delicate New Year’s Eve dotticure? Would you wear this look? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

Happy Friday ✨
