Layla Thermal Polish Effects No. 7

What does everyone think of the new layout? I was feeling a change for the new year! I’m really trying to get back to blogging again… and not let it slip aside again. I’ve always been playing around with expanding to include a little bit more than just nails–would anyone be interested in seeing a few Outfit of the Day style posts on top of nails? I was thinking maybe one a week or so. Let me know in the comments below!

In the meantime, I know what you’re here for… NAILS!

Continuing my thermal obsession with Layla Effects polish No. 7 with OPI Pirouette My Whistle layered over top and Butter London matte top coat. I found PMW at my local Lawtons tucked into the clearence bin along side another polish I’ve been coveting–Essie Shine of the Times!  Don’t you just love when you stumble across those polishes you’ve been dreaming of forever?

Sadly I didn’t get a shot of the polish in its cold state, but you can just barely see the darker colour on the tips of my baby nails.

So what do you think of this combo together? I can really see myself using Pirouette My Whistle a lot!

Have a happy Friday everyone.

Purple Matte stripes (because I’m kind of obsessed right now)

I seriously need to get out of this purple/blue/pink kick I’ve been on. Soon, I will do it soon. In the mean time though, it’s time for some more purple nails!

I broke down my nails (again) so it’s back to baby nails for me. To jazz them up some, I figured stripes would work to make them look longer! I don’t know if I was totally successful in my endeavour, but I do love how these look. I was partially inspired by binge-watching season two of the new 90210 and a dress that Silver was wearing.

The polishes I used for this mani were:

  • OPI I Lost My Bikini in Molokini.
  • Art Deco Nail Art striper in black
  • Art Club Nail Art Duo in white
  • Essie Good to Go
  • Butter London Matte top coat.

Just can’t stop with the matte either. No apologies there. I’m just in love with all thing matte right now! I also just scored a bottle of Essie Shine of the Times and I cannot WAIT to put a little matte top coat over it. Stay tuned!

Matte swirl accent nails.

January is leaving me a little slack on inspiration, leaving my nail designs feeling a little random. Today’s mani is inspired by a manicure I did back on Thanksgiving, only using a different colour scheme.

The polishes I used for this manicure were:

  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon manicure in Trouble Maker
  • Color Club Dirty Money
  • OPI Altar Ego
  • Essie Good to Go top coat.
  • Butter London Matte Top coat.
  • Small nail art brush purchased from Born Pretty.

What do you find yourself wearing most often in the early months of the year. I can’t wait to start playing around with some Valentines Day designs! Only a month away! 💗

Matte Mermaid Nails featuring stencils from Born Pretty.

Morning lovelies! Hope you’re not having a too rough or caffeine deprived Monday. Today I’ve got a manicure to share with you today featuring Fish Scale nail art stencils (item #23535).

I’ve come to discover my love affair with nail vinyls and nail stencils in the last year so I was very excited when I was contacted to review some items by Born Pretty. I’ve always had very good expirences with their products and these nail stencils were no different.

Each sheet comes with 12 stencils all attached on a clear backing. I pre-cut the six stencils I was going to use, then one by one applied each over my base colour that was completely dry. These stencils are much thinner than I’m used to with other vinyls (they’re made of a thin holographic material) but we’re very easy to place and apply.

Once I had my stencils where I liked them, I trimmed the excess off the tips and started sponging on my colours of choice.

The polishes I used for this manicure were:

  •  OPI Miss You-neverse (base colour)
  • Essence Best Dressed
  • Quo by Orly Celestial Stars
  • Color Club Obsessed
  • Essie Good to Go
  • Butter London Matte top coat.

Once all your colours have been sponged on and you feel good about them, quickly remove the stickers from the nail leaving behind your scale pattern. Apply top coat (I used both quick dry top coat and a matte top coat for mine) and it’s time to enjoy.

I just absolutely adore how this mani turned out, and I feel like the matte top coat just brings the whole mani to the next level.

If you’d like to try out these nail art stencils for yourself, or any of the other great products Born Pretty has to offer, you can use my discount code COFFK31 to save 10% off any non-sale item!
