SWATCH SUNDAY — Cadillacquer Aghast 💀 (Halloween 2021 collection)

•contains pr/gifted product•

Hello beauties & happy Sunday! & happy October 1st. It is officially the best month of the year — or at the very least my most favourite month of the year. & naturally I had to dig into my nail polish stash for today’s Swatch Sunday post for something a bit Halloween-y to share. I did this last year — dedicating each Swatch Sunday of the month to a Halloween inspired shade — so that is my plan again this year!

I’m starting off this month with a really fun one: Cadillacquer Aghast which was released as part of their 2021 Halloween collection.

3 coats + top coat.

In the bottle, Cadillacquer Aghast is a dark purple with fun slime green multi-sized glitters. But the magic really happens when you apply the polish to your nails, as it’s a thermal. With warm hands, it transforms from dark purple, to lighter blue, to a pale almost sky blue. It’s very very cool.

The formula itself is very thin, which is why it required 3 coats. I actually started with only two coats, but then I noticed some patchiness when it was at its lightest (hottest) state, & decided I needed another coat for good measure. The thin formula does mean you get a good look at those densely packed glitters, which are very fun! On it’s own, it dries down to a semi matte finish, but I chose to add top coat to mine so that it was shiny (& dried a bit quicker.)

Removal was a little less fun, but this is the kind of shade I wear for a special occasion (like Halloween nails) rather than everyday, so I was okay with it. Obviously, a peel off base coat would make removal way easier, but I wore these to work so I needed them to hold up a bit stronger.

I love how this colour transforms every time you look at it! Most of the time, it was in the darker stage as I am perpetually cold, but every so often I would look at it & see it in action! It’s like an ever transforming gradient on your nails, & that’s very fun. Also, I’m kind of obsessed with the look of purple & blue with this green. Very Halloween-y.

Sadly, this was a limited edition shade that was gifted to me by NailStuff.ca that is no longer available. However, if you’re looking for a similar shade she does have an awesome collection of Cadillacquer nail polishes to choose from!

What do you think of this Halloween-y shade? Are you a fan of thermal nail polishes? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below & let me know what Halloween nail polish you’re looking forward to wearing this spooky season!

GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE OCTOBER — Graveyard 🪦

Hello lovelies & Happy Halloween! I hope everyone is all ready for the ghosts & ghouls to run loose this evening. I got prepped by watching my favourite Halloween episode of Buffy, & eating my weight in sour patch kids. It’s also the last prompt of Glam Nails Challenge October, which means October is officially over. & that is crazy! We’re just weeks away from candy canes & decking the halls.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves — I have one more Halloween nail art look to share. The last prompt of Glam Nails Challenge October is Graveyard, & I decided to go with a classic graveyard scene… with a little holo sparkle added.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-chip Top Coat
  • China Glaze Intelligence, Integrity and Courage
  • Color Club Take Me To VIP
  • Starrily Vantablack
  • NailStuff.ca 4mm Micro Detail Brush

This look is 100% freehanded, which I’m super proud of. Although, I do some version of this nail art look every year, so I feel like I’m really perfecting it. I also really like the addition of the holographic sparkle of Color Club Take Me to VIP because it almost looks like stars in the sky. Just lovely.

Can you believe this is the last prompt for Glam Nails Challenge October? Crazy! As always, I had so much fun doing these nail art looks. Halloween is one of my favourite months for nail art, because I feel like the nail art looks are endless. & you can check out all the nail art looks from this month on Instagram under  #glamnailschallengeOct.

I’m not 100% sure if I’ll be doing Glam Nails Challenge November yet, or if I’ll save all my energy for December, so stay tuned to see what nail art looks I have coming next month! Enjoy your Halloween, & whichever Halloween candy of choice is your favourite!

Kiss Products Limited Edition Halloween Press On Nails Review (A Review)

PR

Features Gifted Product in Exchange for Content

Hello loves & happy Saturday! I know, right — a Saturday post. It’s Halloween weekend, & I’m feeling wild, so I decided to share a fun post. Recently I was sent a fun PR box from Kiss — for the first time ever– which included a slew of fun press on nails, & a couple false lashes, all for Halloween. So naturally, I needed to try some of the goodies out!

Full disclosure: I don’t think I’ve worn false nails in like… 18 years? I think the last time was my cousins wedding in 2006. So it’s been a while. I started off by going through the box & deciding on what length I wanted, but also took into account while nails had a fit that matched my cuticle line the best. I ended up going with these fun witchy nails, in the XL length. I went through & found nails to fit each nail, & then set them in a line so I could apply one by one, starting from my pinky to my thumb.

It was actually an easier process then I remember — & I didn’t end up with nail glue all over my hands which was nice. It definitely got more tricky the closer I got to my thumbs, especially with this extra long length, but I managed to get all 10 applied easily.

As for wear, I wore these for 3 days of work, & while the length definitely took some adjusting to, I was really impressed with the wear of the nails. I had no lifting, no nails that popped off; they were very secure. & that was during 3 days where I was unpacking boxes, & generally being pretty hard on my nails. If I had decided to, I definitely think could have gotten a week’s wear out of them.

Removal was a little more difficult. I purchased the Kiss Glue Off, which boasts easy removal, but it definitely was a bit of a challenge getting them off, & I did end up needing to trim down my natural nails due to some damage. But I also left my natural nails long, which I think was my own fault. However, if your nails are already short, & you want to add some fun length to them, these are an awesome option for you! & they definitely have great lasting potential, with a fraction of the cost you could pay at a salon!

Overall, I was really impressed with these Kiss Press on Nails, & I had so much fun wearing them — even for a short time.

I don’t think I’m the target audience, simply because I like changing up my nail art a little more frequently, but I couldn’t get over how many compliments I received while wearing these, with a majority of people telling me how they looked like salon done nails! If you’re someone who likes having pretty nails, doesn’t want to change them too frequently, definitely check them out! Kiss Products can be purchased at your local Walmart.

Have a fun Saturday beauties!

GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE OCTOBER — Skull 💀

Hello beauties, & happy Wednesday!

I hope everyone’s week is going by wonderfully. Mine has been… interesting but I’m excited to show off these fun nails for the second last prompt of Glam Nails Challenge October: skull.

I was especially excited because it gave me another chance to use the Color Club Skull stamping plate I purchased last year.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

How fun! I just picked up this bottle of OPI Vampsterdam at Marshall’s the other day, so I was pumped to wear it right away. A lovely Autumn shade. & a great base for these skulls.

What do you think about these skulls? Can you believe how quickly Halloween is approaching?! Only one more prompt to go before this month’s challenge is over!

Have a lovely Wednesday.

GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE OCTOBER – Spiders

Hello lovelies & happy Monday! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

I wish I could say I did, but I’ve been fighting through a horrible sickness for the last week or so, & Saturday I worked 10 hours with laryngitis which was… not fun. I also haven’t had any time or energy for my nails, which is why it’s been so quiet on here. But I do have my next prompt for Glam Nails Challenge October, because I am dedicated to seeing it to the end.

Today’s prompt is Spiders. I decided to go with a quick & easy spider web design using these Dollarama nail art stickers.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-chip Top Coat
  • Essie Kimono-over
  • Paris Hilton Nail Polish unnamed glitter
  • Starrily Space Debris
  • Dollarama Halloween nail art stickers

These stickers are so cute, & I really like them over this sparkly purple base. I really love these glitters layered over the darkness of Essie Kimono-over — it build into such a beautiful base for me. The stickers — well while I’ve had some really good luck with other Dollarama nail art stickers, these ones might have been too big, or too stiff, but they did not want to stay on my nails at all. But at least I got enough wear out of them for this design!

Also I know it said Spiders as the prompt — but I hate spiders. Spider webs are much, much more fun for me to wear. & don’t give me the creeps.

What do you think about this nail art look for Glam Nails Challenge October? Have you been following along with the other looks on Instagram? Don’t forget, you can check out the hashtag #glamnailschallengeOct to see all the other fun designs! Only 2 more prompts to go until Halloween!

Have a lovely Monday.
