SWATCH SUNDAY — Pucker Up (Summer 2021 collection)

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday!

Another week has gone by, & somehow we’re almost in July? Half way through 2021… how did that happen? That means we’re in full Summer mode, which means I’m in full give-me-all-the-bright-nail-polish-now mode. So I thought I would actually share a fun, Summery shade that is actually from this year: Essie Pucker Up from the Summer 2021 collection. As you might remember I was gifted this beautiful shade as part of the National Nail Polish Day PR package I received, but haven’t had a chance (okay, I kept forgetting…) to share the shade until now!

2 coats + Essie Speed Setter top coat

How to describe this polish… so this beautiful bright coral leaning pink which is a pop of colour. My favourite part of, though, is this fuchsia shimmer. The colour is blindingly bright, which makes me happy in ways I can’t even describe. Like, you need sunglasses while staring at your nails. However, this is also one of those shades that looks very different depending on what light you look at it in–under my daytime light, you definitely get more of that fiery coral shade, but if you are taking pictures outside, in indirect light, then you’re going to see more of that fuchsia undertones.

Over all, the formula was pretty easy to work with. 2 easy coats, with a little bit of Speed Setter (because it was 11:30 at night 1am, & I was going to bed right after). The shade itself is very bright, & reminds me a bit of Ardene 80s Prom Dress which I swatched here, only more poppy. Obviously, being from Essie & not like 6 years old, means you can totally snag this beauty for yourself!

What do you think about Pucker Up from the Summer 2021 collection? Are you feeling these Summer vibes? What shade are you living for right now? Let me know in the comments below.

SWATCH SUNDAY — OPI My Chihuahua Bites!

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday!

Today I’m pulling one of my favourite OPI shades out of my stash: OPI My Chihuahua Bites! As I’ve mentioned in the past, oh, a million times (roughly), this is one of absolute my favourite coral-y red shades.

2 coats, no top coat

This shade was originally released as part of the 2006 Mexico City collection. I found it at Winners a few years ago, & was very excited because it was on my nail polish wish list.

You’re looking at 2 coats of polish, no top coat. I’m really impressed with the shine without any top coat added. The formula was fantastic—easy to apply, no streakiness. There is a reason why this is my favourite. In fact, I really need to get myself another back up bottle, just in case.

This is an amazing Summer shade. It’s been while since I pulled it out, & I’m honestly glad that I did. We’ve had some seriously crappy, dull weather the last few days so this bright pop of colour is exactly what I need right now.

What do you think of this shade? Are you ready for fun Summer colours? Let me know in the comments below!

Pink Floral on Coral

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday! Hope you’re all having a lovely, safe start to your week. Can you believe we’re almost half way through April? I can’t believe how quickly this month is going. & so far, we’ve more or less had beautiful weather.

I’ll take it!

& today I’m sharing another floral look with you! I did this look the other week after snapping off my middle finger at work. It hurt, especially because they’ve completely transformed & were getting so long! So I thought some (more) floral was in order to cheer myself up.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle
  • Top Coat: Essie Good to Go
  • Color Club Tankini (mood changing nail polish)
  • Orly Scenic Route
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Orchid-ing Aside
  • Sally Hansen CSM Cherry Cherry Bang Bang
  • Sally Hansen Get Mod!
  • Essie Off Tropic
  • Essence The Green & the Grunge
  • Starrily Vantablack
  • NailStuff.ca 7mm detail brush
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

First off, I love, love, LOVE this Color Club shade. It was another one of those amazing Winners (or, possibly Marshall’s) find. I’ve been absolutely obsessed with these mood (thermal) changing polishes since my late 2009 Claire’s days when I had to buy all of them! The shift on this shade is subtle, but either way the colour is GORGEOUS & I’m kind of obsessed. Very perfect for Summer.

Second, this floral turned out so pretty. Nothing like a little bit of girlie nail art to cheer yourself up after a bad break. I was going for a bit of a cartoon-y floral, & I think I achieved what I was trying to do!

What do you think about this floral on my new shorties? how do you cope with a bad, bad break? Let me know in the comments below!

Matte Pastel Leopard Print

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday! ☕️🌸

I hope everyone is having a lovely start to the week — especially with that Full moon that happened Sunday. I definitely felt the effects from it; things were off. But I did start off my week with some much needed Spring cleaning, which was great… & very, very overdue. My nail art area was starting to get overrun with bottles of polish, haha.

I also have some new Spring-y nails to shade. I saw this pretty pastel leopard print via Pinterest, & thought it would be absolutely perfect for a nail art look! & obviously matte top coat makes everything better!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle
  • Top Coat: Essie Good to Go
  • Matte Top Coat: Butter London Matte Top Coat
  • Essence Good to Go Indian Summer
  • Essie Go Ginza
  • Sally Hansen I ♥️ Nail Art Pen in Fine Black
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

Love, love, love how these turned out! Dainty & Spring like. The colours just compliment each other so well! Leopard print is one of those designs I don’t do very often, so they always feel extra special when I do them. Plus, there are endless colour combinations, so you truthfully never have to do the same one twice!

What do you think about this matte pastel leopard print? Would you wear this for Spring? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below, & which colours you would pair together.

SWATCH SUNDAY — ACO by Ardene 80s Prom Dress

Hey lovelies! & happy Sunday. Can you believe it’s August?! How did that happen? The pumpkin spice is calling me already. But since it’s still Summer, I won’t get into the Autumn colours just yet… though I will say, I’m already planning a post featuring my picks for Fall so stay tuned!

But let’s starting off August by embracing Summer! In fact, let’s go way back with a neon Ardene nail polish circa 2014! 80s Prom Dress.

For those who don’t know, Ardene is a Canadian retailer that focuses more on clothing now, but used to be all about jewelry & accessories & has a pretty impressive nail polish selection. I used to be a manager in the company, so I would see first hand all the nail polishes as we got them! It also means I own entire drawer of their polishes.

80s Prom Dress is a beautiful neon coral jelly, with a striking fuchsia shimmer. The formula is semi sheer, so I applied two coats of polish over a base of YSL Corial Colisee to make sure I had full opacity. & the two go so well together, you can’t spot where one ends & the other begins! You can also build full opacity with this shade, but it takes about 4 coats.

I love how unique this shade is. The colour is so vibrant, the shimmer stands out, & the combination is perfection. & feel like the name suits this shade so well, because this totally is the colour you would expect to see on a garishly loud prom dress from 1982.

A close up to really see that beautiful glowing fuchsia shimmer.

What do you think about this beautiful neon shade? Are you still all about summer shades, or do you find your mind wandering to Autumn polish? Let me know down in the comments below!
