#GlamNailsChallengeDec โ€” Fireworks/Confetti

4596E7C2-1098-4004-B18A-8624E1C5C34E

Good morning lovelies & Happy Monday! Today is officially the last day of #GlamNailsChallengeDec & the prompt is Fireworks/confetti. I can’t believe this is the final prompt of this month, & the final prompt of this year! I’ve had so much fun stepping out of my comfort zone to join in on these challenges, & I’m really hoping to keep going into the new year!

For today, in honour of New Years Eve tomorrow, I naturally had to go with the fireworks inspiration because who doesn’t love fireworks!

  • Essie In Hot Purse-uit (Rebecca Minkoff collection)

I’ve attempted fireworks designs before, a few times, but they have never quite turned out as good as I pictured in my head… but I actually quite love how these look. I started off by drawing with my most opaque polish (Goldie Rocks), then my thinner holo glitter (Five Golden Blings) & then added some gold glitters in the middle (Good As Good). I really wanted these to look glittery, like how fireworks look right after exploding in the sky. & I think I achieved that!

How pretty is this gold against the blue. I got the Essie Rebecca Minkoff collection from my Mum for Christmas, so obviously I couldn’t wait to dive right in & try them out. & can I just say this is one coat of this blue shade! I mean… that’s amazing & it makes such a perfect base for my golden nail art!

Is there anything more beautiful than red & gold. I love how the gold presents pop over this beautiful vibrant red holo polish! Feels very Christmas-y! Also any excuse to wear this amazing shade from Dimension Nails is a good excuse… it’s such a perfect glitter shade for this time of year I knew I had to incorporate it a Christmas design for this year.

Naturally I went to Pinterest to find a look I liked, & found this tutorial originally posted on Instagram by @thebasecoat.

For this look I started off by applying the triangle nail stencil to my accent nail, then one at a time applied my colours to the empty spaces to create a triangle on the nail. I followed the Base Coat’s tutorial for colours. It was also way easier using a pre designed nail vinyl than attempting to position striping tape or straight nail vinyls into the same shape.

Honestly this look was too simple to do, but turned out so cute! I think this is such a perfect Christmas Day look—who doesn’t love Christmas trees! & the mixing of colours is very Christmasy. I absolutely lovely it!

#GlamNailsChallengeDec โ€” Poinsettias

6E2004E1-733B-44DC-9243-5DE209FEC791

Good morning lovelies & happy Wednesday. & happy week until Christmas, for those who celebrate! Is everyone else rushing around like a chicken with no head trying to finish up their shopping/organizing/wrapping, or is it just me? ๐Ÿ˜…

Today’s post is another entry into #GlamNailsChallengeDec — poinsettias. & fun fact: even though I love love love a good floral, I don’t think I’ve ever attempted a poinsettia design! Kind of crazy, but I was excited to give it a try.

So for this look, I started off by creating a super sparkly base using December to Remember, Feeling Twinkly & Fairy Dust. I really really wanted a super dense glitter for the poinsettias to pop against, I feel like the layering on these three shades really achieved that look. Next I hand painted my poinsettias using all nail polish. I know I’ve been using acrylic paint a lot lately, but I don’t actually have any red acrylic paint in my stash so I went old school & used nail polish.

It was a little time consuming, but the end result I feel like turned out really well. The only place I really struggled was with the leaves, & they’re definitely not perfect, but over all I think my design turned out pretty close to its inspiration!

Is there ever such a thing as too much sparkle during the holidays? I don’t think so. The only downside is glitter removal, but thanks to peel off base coat, if you just want extra glittery nails for a night, you are in luck! Can’t go wrong with that!

Good morning lovelies & happy Monday! We’re quickly speeding through December & speeding through the prompts for #GlamnailschallengeDec! Today’s prompt is Christmas decorations! I feel like this prompt is really up for interpretation & offers a wide variety of options, so I decided to recreate a look I love to do: Christmas branches with decorations, but with the addition of holo. Because, let’s be honest — everything is better with holo!

Who has decorated their Christmas tree? ๐ŸŽ„ We got ours done this week, which is about 2 weeks sooner than last year. Because of pregnancy & work last year, we managed to get our tree decorated by Christmas Eve, haha. But you know, if you haven’t gotten your tree decorated yet, you can always pretend with fully decorated Christmas trees on your nails!

I really think the holo dots are what make this design because it reminds me of the baubles on my own tree when the light catches them. Just that lovely sparkle. โœจ You don’t even need to worry about any more details, because the shift of light does it all for you.

I also think these might be the best pine needle/Christmas tree branches I’ve ever painted. I’m insanely proud of how these ended up, which is probably why I wore this look for over a week. Sometimes a look just wins, & this is definitely one of these looks for me. โค๏ธ
