Bestie Twin Summer Nails.

I’ve always wanted the chance to do Best Twin Nails with someone before, so I was excited that my coworker and favorite nail art buddy agreed to do twin nails with me, especially since she’s leaving us later this week.

Since it’s finally officially Summer, I suggested something tropical. We decided to go with a gradient on the accent fingers, with palm trees. I really wanted to get a picture of our nails together, but we totally forgot to!  Thankfully though, she sent me this picture with the caption “for your blog!” so I could share with everyone our cute bestie nails.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • ACO by Ardene Purple Rain — thumb & gradient (purple) .
  • Essie We’re in this Together — pointer (pink).
  • ACO by Ardene Lights, Camera, Action — pointer (glitter).
  • ACO by Ardene Sea of Beauty — gradient (blue).
  • LA Colors Color Craze Palm Tree — gradient (green)
  • China Glaze Metro Pollen-tin — gradient (yellow)
  • Sinful Colors Island Coral — pinky & gradient (coral).
  • Cherimoya Black — palm tree.
  • Sally Hansen Diamond Flash top coat.

I thought this was a super cute design for the second day of Summer. It was really fun to have matching nails with my favorite nail art buddy. I’m really going to miss her when she leaves us, and I hope she’ll still have nail art chats with me, and we can do bestie twin nails again.  =)

So what do you think of these summery nails?

Have you ever done Bestie Twin nails with anyone?

Leopard Print Day Two–changing things up a bit.

So technically this isn’t new nail art. I was so in love with my leopard print nails from yesterday, I couldn’t take them off. However, my purple color chipped badly at work so I needed to change them up somewhat to pull off day 2 nails. I don’t often wear my manicures for more than a day, mostly because I chip them so badly at work on a regular basis. But I just couldn’t take off the leopard print–I am so proud of how great they look, I had to give them at least another day of work. So what could I do to chance this manicure up a little bit?

After grabbing my blue Kosmic Colours nail polish, and painting on the color I still wanted to do something fun. I picked up OPI’s I Snow You Love Me at Chatters for a sweet deal a couple weeks ago, and read online about how awesome it was for a glitter placement manicure. I’ve never done glitter placement on my nails, but I really wanted to try.

It really wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. All it took was a steady hand and my dotting tool. The blue wasn’t completely dry when I started so the glitters kind of sunk into the color a little bit, but it still turned out neat. Like little diamonds on my nails. I’ve been really wanted to try out studs and such on my nails as I see them on so many awesome manicures on my favorite nail art blogs, but I haven’t had a chance yet. These little glitters definitely gave me a taste of how pretty it can look though!

So how do you save a manicure you really love? How long do you tend to keep your manicures on your nails?

Then and Now: Multi-colored Leopard print.

Finally! Some nail art.

I’ve been feeling so uninspired with my nails lately. I will start something, get half way through, and then hate it and give up and have to start over. It’s so frustrating. =( I turned to my previous manicures for this one. One of the very first manicures I did when I got a dotting tool was a multi colored leopard print manicure. I remember being so proud of this, especially when I got a “Did you do those yourself?” Comment.

So I decided I wanted to recreate that manicure. (Although, I used different colors for this one haha.)

  • Sinful Colors Easy Going — off white.
  • Kozmic Colours — blue.

  • Sinful Colors Island Coral — coral.

Can I use say proud I am of how these turned out! I haven’t done a leopard print in quite a while, but after a lot of practice I’ve realized smaller spots look much better than bigger blobs. And I think these nails turned out perfectly. Also I tried to take a picture doing that awkward claw hand pose (how did I think that looked good?) but It was the most awkward position ever! Also check out the state of my nails! They look so much better now! Not just because my technique has improved, but they are just such a better shape!

So what do you think of these multi-colored leopard print nails?

A Peek into My Stash — Part Two.

Today I have for you the second part of my stash posts. After this, I’ll only have one more drawer of my five to photograph. Even though it’s been a bit of work taking pictures of everything, and writing them down, I’m really glad that I have. Now, whenever I’m feeling nail art, I’ll know exactly what polishes I have to work with!
And now onto the polishes…

Crazy for Dots.

My brand new dotting tool set I ordered last month finally arrived last week, and I couldn’t be more excited. I already had a single dotting tool that I bought at Shoppers last year (Essence brand) but it’s had better days. Plus, I only had the one size so it restricted my dot options to two sizes.

I scored these beauties on Amazon.ca for $1.96. (I also scored some new small detail brushes as well, which haven’t arrived yet.)

It took a while for them to arrive, but once they did I couldn’t wait to try they out! I just needed to figure out what was the first design I wanted to do! It was getting a little late when I started these, so I figure I a funky dotticure was the perfect solution.

The polishes I used for this manicure were:

  • Cherimoya nail polish in Dulce de Leche (from the “Make You Melt” Petite collection.) — base color.
  • Essie in The Lace is On — Dark purple dots.
  • Garage brand nail polish — the light pink dots. (No name on this one.)
  • LA Girl Quick Dry Top Coat.

Even though it’s a simple mani, I really like how it turned out on the nail. I really am crazy for dots.

The only disappointment was a I banged my finger in the morning getting ready for the gym, and broke the nail on my pointer finger so I had to file down the rest of my nails so they were all the same length (and go through work with a slight chip to the polish all day). Then I ended up hitting my hand at work, breaking the edge of my thumb nail! So my nails are super short again. I’m a sad girl.
